Mr. Derek R. Leith

Derek Leith is the Senior Policy Analyst at the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Division of Finance, Trade and the Economy. As an economist with over fifteen (15) years’ post-qualification experience, he has significant experience in policy research and development, academic programme development, and the design, administration and conduct of economic research studies.

Mr. Leith holds a MSc. in Financial and Business Economics and a BSc. in Economics and Accounting from the University of the West Indies (UWI), Cave Hill, Barbados. His postgraduate certificate in Teaching and Learning serves to enhance his work as a Lecturer at the College of Science Technology and Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago (COSTAATT) in the past, and more recently at the Cipriani College of Labour and Co-operative Studies Tobago Campus in the areas of macroeconomics, microeconomics and statistical analysis methods.

Mr. Leith is a former Director of the Planning, Research and Project Implementation Unit at the Ministry of Tobago Development, and has held positions in accounting, research, policy development, and project implementation in the public sector. Mr. Leith contributes his expertise to the ongoing relief efforts in response to the February 2024 oil spill, as a member of the Tobago Oil Spill Relief Committee (OSRC).
